Frequently asked questions
What is the GeM Portal?
GeM (Government e-Marketplace) is the National Public Procurement Portal of India. Central and state government departments, PSUs and autonomous bodies use it to buy goods and services online from registered sellers.
Is registration on GeM free for sellers?
Yes. Registration is free, but sellers must deposit a refundable caution money based on their turnover before listing products or participating in bids.
Is the Edafter GeM course really free?
Yes. All lessons, videos, document creator tools and PDF tools on Edafter are free to use, with no sign-up required.
Which documents are required for GeM registration?
You need Aadhaar or PAN of the authorized person, a mobile number and email ID, business PAN, GSTIN, bank account details, and ITR, Udyam or DPIIT details where applicable.
Can a new business participate in GeM bids without experience?
Yes. Many bids allow startups and MSEs to participate with relaxed experience and turnover criteria, and MSEs get EMD exemption and purchase preference.
Are my files safe in the Edafter PDF tools?
Yes. The PDF tools run entirely in your browser, so your documents are never uploaded to any server.
